WHO IS DR. TAKAKURA (taka-kuu-ra)?

Education / Licensure:
Dr. Faith Takakura is a graduate of Bastyr University's 4-year Naturopathic Medicine program (one of only three accredited Naturopathic programs in the United States).

She received her undergraduate degree in Botany from the University of Washington, and maintains licensure as a naturopathic physician through the Washington State Department of Health.

Positions Held / Affiliations:
Dr. Takakura is associate physician at NCOH, a founder and academic faculty member of the Integrative Bodywork Institute in Seattle, and also clinic director for the Evergreen Family Wellness Center in Bellevue. She is a member of the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

In addition to practicing at NCOH, Dr. Takakura educates the community through lectures on women's and children's health conditions, and supervises weekly Craniosacral practice sessions at Bastyr. In her spare time, Dr. Takakura enjoys volunteering with AHAC (Alternative Healthcare Action Committee) at two homeless women's shelters in downtown Seattle where she provides naturopathic care for women in need.

Practice Interests:
"I utilize many different therapies that stimulate the body to heal on multiple levels. "Although I practice general family medicine, I particularly enjoy working with women and children." "I work extensively with structural problems such as arthritis, low back pain and other musculoskeletal problems as well as ear infections, eczema, asthma, allergies, menopause, irregular menses, hormone balancing, and infertility."

Philosophy:
"My goal in treatment is to empower people to take charge of their own health and well being." "I believe that the person you are today is a result of everything that has happened throughout your lifetime starting from the moment of birth. Truly holistic healing occurs when physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels are addressed." "My job is to walk with patients on their path and help to identify and remove obstacles to optimal health. In doing so, people learn to identify and remove obstacles independently thus becoming a promoter and champion of health for themselves, their family and their community."

Personal:
Dr. Takakura was born and raised in the midwest by her father Neal Christensen and mother Ola Christensen. Dr. Takakura is the oldest of sixteen children. Many have decided to enter the health care field with her mother and sister recently graduating from massage therapy school and her brother attending chiropractic school. Dr. Takakura is married to Masahiro, who she met at Bastyr University. He is a naturopathic physician, practicing at Evergreen Family Wellness Center, a student at Bastyr completing a master's in acupuncture, and associate faculty at Bastyr University. In her spare time, Dr. Takakura, enjoys hiking, gardening, dancing, and spending quality time with her husband & family.
